FROG

Thank you Olivier Clerc, writer and philosopher, for sending a short story with a great wealth of teaching. This is the principle of the heated frog: Imagine a pot filled with cold water in which a frog is swimming peacefully. The fire is lit under the pot, the water heats gently. It is soon lukewarm. The frog finds this rather pleasant and continues swimming. The temperature continues to rise. The water is now hot. It's a little more than the frog likes, it tires him a little, but he doesn't panic. The water is really warm this time. The frog begins to find this unpleasant, but he has grown weak, so he endures it and does nothing. The temperature continues to rise until the frog simply cooks and dies. If the same frog had been plunged directly into water at 50°, it would have immediately given the appropriate kick which would have ejected it immediately from the pot. This experiment shows that when a change takes place in one way slow enough, it escapes consciousness and does not arouse most of the time no reaction, no opposition, no revolt. If we look at what has been happening in our society for the past few decades, we are experiencing a slow drift to which we are becoming accustomed. Lots of things that would have horrified us 20, 30 or 40 years ago have gradually been trivialized, watered down, and still only mildly disturb us today, or leave most people completely indifferent. IN THE NAME OF PROGRESS and science, the worst attacks on freedoms individual, to the dignity of living things, to the integrity of nature, to the beauty and the happiness of living, are carried out slowly and inexorably with the constant complicity of victims, ignorant or destitute

The dark pictures announced for the future, instead of provoking reactions and preventive measures, only prepare the people psychologically to accept decadent, even DRAMATIC living conditions. The PERMANENT FEEDING of information from the media saturates the brains which can no longer sort things out... When I first announced these things, it was for tomorrow. There, THAT'S IT FOR TODAY. So if you are not, like the frog, already half cooked, give the salutary kick before it is too late. Please share widely. ARE WE ALREADY HALF-COOKED?
